The Riviera Travel river cruise ship Swiss Sapphire is a 5 star ship and entered service in 2008. She offers luxury river cruises for just 120 passengers in elegant surroundings similar to what one could expect at a first class hotel.
Lots of care was taken in the design of Swiss Sapphire with grand and spacious public areas and beautifully appointed cabins making her quite unforgettable.
There are three decks, the Diamond (upper) deck, Ruby (middle) deck and Emerald (lower) deck.
Diamond deck is where you will find the Panorama Lounge and bar. Comfortable sofas and armchairs adorn the lounge and, as the name would suggest, there are fabulous panoramic views from here as your river cruise meanders through open countryside and past small, picturesque villages and towns. There is also the Lido bar and restaurant positioned aft on Diamond deck. This small intimate area serves early bird breakfast, a buffet lunch and dinner but places are very limited so one must make a reservation on board.
Ruby deck is where the main restaurant can be found. Buffet breakfast and lunch and evening dinner serve food to the highest order here. Dining here is an open affair so guest can sit where and with whom they like.
On Emerald deck there is a fitness area with bicycles and treadmills plus there is a treatment room if you fancy treating yourself to a massage (fee applies).
Of course above all of this is the Sun deck where, weather permitting, you can relax on one of a choice of sun-loungers and chairs or take a dip in the Jacuzzi. There is also a small putting green and giant chess board on the sun deck.
Cabins on Swiss Sapphire are situated on 3 decks.
The standard cabin on Ruby and Emerald decks is, like the rest of the ship, appointed to the highest quality. Those on Ruby deck feature French balconies whilst those on Emerald deck have upper windows and all are a generous 15 square metres (160 sq ft) in size. Each cabin offers plenty of storage space, a seating area complete with desk and 2 chairs plus there is a safe, hair-dryer, flat screen TV and mini-bar. There are 11 of the standard cabin on Emerald deck and 30 on Ruby deck.
Suites give you a little extra space than standard cabins and at 19 square metres (204 sq ft) give just that bit more added comfort. They are located on all 3 decks with 2 suites located on Diamond and Ruby deck (featuring French balconies) and 1 on Emerald deck (2 upper windows).
Deluxe suites are located on Diamond deck and at 30 square metres (322 sq ft) are some of the largest to be found on any river cruise ship in Europe. The majority of this extra space is almost wholly devoted to the living area. There are just 14 of these very special accommodations.
Air conditioning comes as standard and can be controlled from within the cabin.
