Cunard

Cunard is one of the best known brands in cruising, and has been satisfying passengers since the Britannia in 1840, and now operates 3 ships, with a 4th on order. Watch the short video at the bottom of the page for an insight of what is available on a Cunard trans-Atlantic crossing

Queen Elizabeth is the newest Cunarder, having joined the fleet in October 2010. Queen Victoria joined in December 2007 and Queen Mary 2 (also known as QM2) in January 2004. Queen Anne will join the fleet early in 2024.

Cunard offers more traditional and longer voyages than many other cruise lines. The ships offer spacious public areas and elegant surroundings, as well as high quality cuisine. The level of accommodation you choose, determines which restaurant you will eat in onboard. Guests in Britannia inside, ocean view or balcony staterooms will be allocated a table on 1st or 2nd sitting dinner in the Britannia Restaurant, while guests in Britannia Club balcony staterooms will be able to dine in the Britannia Club Restaurant, at a time to suit them (generally between 6.30pm and 8.30pm). Guests in the Princess Grill Suites and Queen’s Grill Suites will dine in the respective Grill Restaurant, again at a time to suit them.

A cruise with Cunard offers you the chance to dress up and look glamorous, with more formal nights than many other cruise lines. Having said that, each of the 3 ships has a restaurant where you can eat in the evenings if you prefer smart casual to formal. These are the Kings Court on QM2, and the Lido restaurant on Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria.

CUNARD DRESS CODE

Formal – Gentlemen will be expected to wear a dinner jacket, tuxedo or dark suit with a tie, with ladies wearing an evening or cocktail dress.

Informal – A jacket is required for gentlemen, although a tie is optional. For ladies it would be a cocktail dress, stylish separates or the equivalent.

For guests who wish to wear less formal clothes, there is the opportunity to dine in one of the casual alternative restaurants, Kings Court and Lido. For pre or post dinner drinks, they will be able to use the adjoining Winter Gardens and Garden Lounge Bars. Please note that after 6pm it is not considered appropriate to wear shorts, blue or worn denim (for men and women), sandals or sleeveless tops (for men) anywhere within the ship.

Daytime – during the day stylish casual wear, including smart jeans and shorts, is fine onboard. Swimsuits, sarongs, gym wear and micro shorts are allowed pool-side, on deck or while in the Spa and Fitness Centre, but must be covered up in any other areas of the ship.

Please note the following policy, with regard to children being in their own cabin – “Children under the age of 16 years old are not permitted to travel in a cabin alone. They must be accompanied by an adult of 16 years or over in the same cabin. Where one of the children is 16 or over they can travel in a cabin of their own however, they must be ‘escorted’ with an adult over 18 in a separate cabin”
